Harvard Club commenced the eighth version of their annual Age Grade Rugby Clinic last Sunday at the King George V Park with over 50 children in attendance. The clinic runs from July 3-September 4 on Sunday mornings from 9 am-11 am and is open to both boys and girls between the ages of 5-18. Last week, secretary of the T&T Rugby Football Union Colin Peters handed over some rugby balls to Nicholas Martinez, the assistant coach of the Harvard Rugby team and co-ordinator of the clinic.
Peters stated, “The clinic has proven to be a great success over the years resulting in the Harvard team’s being the youngest team in the Championship Division of the TTRFU competition, making it all the way to the Marcus Minshall Knock Out Final in 2010.” He also said that the club can boast of its representations at the development level and the national Under-19 team level with names like Joseph Quashie, Derondie Jones, Mark Poon and Mark Griffith quickly coming to mind.
