It was an emotional moment for 4 time Olympian Cleopatra Borel after securing her spot in the finals of the Women’s Shot Put.

Cleopatra competed in Group A of the qualifying round, improving on each attempt. Throwing 16.94m and 17.78m and in her first two attempts. Her final throw that sealed the deal for Borel with an improved distance of 18.20m.

Speaking with ESPN Caribbean after an emotional Borel said, “I didn’t make the finals in Beijing and I didn’t make the finals in London and now I’ve worked for four years just to make this finals.” Here is the full interview:

On arrival back at the Olympic Village, an elated Borel took a few seconds to do shoutout video for her supporters back in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Women’s Shot Put Final is scheduled to do take place at 10:00pm Brazilian Time/ 9:00pm TTO Time at the Olympic Stadium.
