The Pan Amer­i­can Games closed on Sun­day but T&T is still cel­e­brat­ing its his­toric per­for­mance, claim­ing 13 medals, the most ever.

GOLFER Ysabelle Lawrence and martial arts’ Gabrielle Wood brought team TTO’s triumphant performance at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru to an end yesterday, hours before a ceremony closed the curtains to the quadrennial event after more than two weeks of action.

MANY sporting enthusiasts and officials might have labelled TT Olympic Committee (TTOC) president Brian Lewis a madman or unrealistic, when in 2013 he first uttered the phrase "ten gold by 2024".

TT added three more medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, yesterday. Keshorn Walcott took silver in the men's javelin, the men's 4x400m team claimed bronze and cyclist Teniel Campbell grabbed another silver medal.

JEREEM Richards earned silver in the men's 200-metre final, while the men's 4x100m relay team also finished in the runners-up spot for TT's second silver yesterday, sealing an historic outing at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

Na­tion­al sprint­er Jereem "The Dream" Richards and row­er Fe­lice Chow copped sil­ver medals on Fri­day at the Pan Amer­i­can Games, while late Thurs­day night, swim­mer Dy­lan Carter bagged a bronze medal to in­crease T&T's medal count to ten. T&T now has two gold medals (in cy­cling), six sil­ver (in track cy­cling/road cy­cling/ath­let­ics/row­ing) and two bronze (box­ing, swim­ming).
