(ATR) Host City Americas announced this week that IOC vice president Anita DeFrantz will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural event next month.
"I am excited about sharing my thoughts with you," DeFrantz said. "We know the joy that hosting a major event can bring to a city, as well as the social and economic benefits. Here in Los Angeles, we are already recognizing the great responsibility and the many benefits that hosting the Los Angeles 2028 Games will bring to this region, and to the nation at large."
Host City Americas, with the theme of Investing in Events, takes place virtually on June 29-30. It is expected to bring more than 1,000 people together, including IOC members, sports ministers, mayors, International Federations and Organizing Committee leaders.
The opening panel, Emerging from the Perfect Storm, includes Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO and Al Kidd, President & CEO of Sports Events & Tourism Association (Sports ETA).
Current and former International Federation leaders are on a panel tackling the question of Can Private Investment Save Traditional Sports.
Felipe de Pablo, CEO and Juan Carlos Chamy, CMO of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games Organizing Committee will update delegates on progress and opportunities the 2023 showpiece event offers for the international industry.

The 2021 edition of Host City will be a global, hybrid event held in Glasgow, Scotland on December 7-8. The format change is designed to build on last year’s first digital edition, combining the face-to-face interaction at Glasgow’s Technology & Innovation Centre with online connectivity.
The iSportConnect Digital & Data eMasterclass is scheduled for May 20.
The three-hour event, which will run from 2pm-5pm BST, will be hosted through a new virtual platform.
A panel discussion on “Data Access & Analytics” will include Finn Bradshaw, Head of Digital at ICC, and Marissa Pace, the World Rugby CMO.
Gorka Llort, Director of Digital Strategy & Content at Dorna Sports, and Alexandra Willis, Head of Communications, Content and Digital at All England Lawn Tennis Club are part of a discussion on “Content: The Multi-Platform Challenge”.

Virtual IF Forum Moved Forward to May 25
With ‘Lessons We Are Learning from a Global Crisis and How Sport and Society Can Emerge Stronger’ as the theme, the 2021 IF Forum will be held entirely virtually on May 25.
The change in schedule from the conference’s traditional Fall timeline was announced by SportAccord to allow the SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit 2021, in Ekaterinburg, Russia, to be rescheduled for Nov. 7-12.
Now in its 15th edition, the one-day meeting of IF leaders and sports industry executives will be staged virtually via the Olympic Capital of Lausanne.
The IF Forum will kick-off with a welcome address by IOC president Thomas Bach and an opening address by Raffaele Chiulli, the president of SportAccord and the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF).
“We are excited to connect with International Sport Federations worldwide for what will be a timely and important IF Forum 2021,” Chiulli said.
“The IF Forum will be an outstanding opportunity for our community to come together to discuss best practice ideas as sport explores strategies to accelerate on the road to recovery."
Presentations, updates, case studies and panel sessions will all be provided covering several vital topics during the one-day virtual gathering.
IOC medical and scientific director Dr. Richard Budgett is among the guest speakers for the Forum. Additional expert speakers from across the global sports movement, including representatives of the IOC, umbrella sports associations and individual IFs, as well as sports industry executives, are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.

International Sports Convention will spend a week in June showcasing the best in fan engagement.
The ISC Fan Engagement Week runs from June 21-25, 2021 and will focus on how sports organizations can engage younger fans, monetize digital fans and use technologies to gain a competitive advantage.
Innovation pioneers will present best practices and original case studies on the current digitization that sports organizations are going through.
Sports federations, leagues, clubs, agencies, and tech companies are all involved in the event.
