Minister of Sport, Darryl Smith and chairman of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Sportt) Michael Phillips, have both given gave cricket legend Brian Lara top marks for his intervention in hosting the Tuesday night fight night boxing series at his Castle residence.

The three-night event is a partnership between the T&T Boxing Association, LAY Management Group and the Pearl and Bunty Lara Foundation. The fights are also being used to help T&T Olympic hopefuls such as Aaron Prince and Michael Alexander, prepare for the Rio Olympic Games in August.

The first two legs of the series drew a host of personalities, including Attorney General Faris Al Wari, West Indies cricketer Darren Bravo, WI coach Phil Simmons and president of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC), Brian Lewis.

Minister Smith was in high praise of the event, saying via press release that he saw it as a great idea when it was first presented to him.
