As president of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) and the Trinidad and Tobago Commonwealth Games Association (TTCGA) I pledge to #beboldforchange and reaffirm my unwavering commitment to providing opportunity for women and girls to participate in sport in all aspects and at all levels.

The playing field isn't level there are barriers that discourage women and girls from enjoying sport and reaching their full potential.

#Futureisfemale - a TTOC initiative seeks to make a positive difference through sport by promoting gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.

International Women's Day highlights how far we have come but how much more still needs to be done.

Achieving gender equality in sport and society requires men to stand up and be counted in the fight to remove the inequalities and discrimination faced by women and girls.

Men and boys must share the vision of gender equality and be advocates for the social and systematic change needed to achieve a gender equal world.

** In 2015, the United Nations officially recognized sport as an " important enabler " of sustainable development in its Agenda 2030 action plan.
One of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by Agenda 2030 is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls(SDG5).
